1. Information used by the app
- Documents and images: camera captures and files you select, including their contents, names, page images, formats and file-provider locations. These are used to display, crop, organize, export, share and print your documents.
- OCR and search: recognized or edited text, search phrases and a private OCR index used to find text inside selected documents. The index contains document text and information needed to identify unchanged files.
- Signatures and certificates: a drawn or imported signature image, and certificate/private-key files you choose to import. These are used only for the signing functions you request. Certificate passwords are used to unlock a credential for an operation and are not saved by the app.
- Preferences: unfinished scans, page order, document names, export choices and narration voice, pitch and speed settings.
- Purchases: Google Play purchase tokens, product identifiers, ownership state and acknowledgement information used to unlock or restore Pro. Ace ScanPDF does not receive your payment-card details.
The current app contains no advertising SDK, developer-operated analytics service or separate crash-reporting service. We do not sell your documents or use their contents for advertising.
2. Local processing and storage
The scan library, unfinished drafts, OCR index and preferences are stored in the app's private storage. Opening an external file creates a private temporary copy for viewing; the source file is not edited. Temporary viewer copies are normally removed when you switch or close the viewer, and Android can also clear cached files.
Saved scans can also be exported to your phone's Downloads/ScanPDF folder on supported Android versions, or to a location you select through Android's file picker. Those exported copies are separate from the private library.
Saved signature images and imported signing credentials are encrypted locally using an Android Keystore key. The private purchase-entitlement cache is also encrypted. Ordinary scan files and OCR text are protected by Android's app storage controls; the app does not add a separate password or encryption layer to ordinary documents or exported files. Signing material is kept in Android's no-backup storage and is excluded from the app's shared-file paths.
The app disables Android app cloud backup. Device transfer and files you export can still depend on your Android version, device manufacturer and chosen storage provider.
3. Google and other services
Google ML Kit and Google Play services: document scanning and text recognition process document images and recognized text on the device. Google states that these inputs and recognition outputs are not sent to Google servers by ML Kit. Models or scanner components may require an internet download. Google's SDKs can collect device and application information, installation or device identifiers, performance measurements, feature usage, configuration and error information for diagnostics and usage analytics. Google describes encryption in transit for this SDK data in its ML Kit data disclosure documentation. See also ML Kit terms and privacy and the Google Privacy Policy.
Google Play Billing: Google processes payment and purchase/restore requests for the optional one-time Pro unlock. The app queries ownership and acknowledges purchases through Google Play. Google handles associated account, transaction, payment and fraud-prevention information under its policies. Purchase and refund records held by Google are separate from data stored by Ace ScanPDF.
Text-to-speech: when you choose Read aloud, document text is passed to the Android text-to-speech engine installed on your device. The app selects voices reported as available for offline use. Engine behaviour, voice downloads and any diagnostics are controlled by that engine's provider and settings. Review the provider's privacy information if your documents are sensitive.
Sharing, printing and cloud storage: the file or text you choose to share is passed to the app or recipient you select. Printing passes document content to Android's print service and your selected printer/provider. Saving to Google Drive or another provider uses Android's file picker and that provider's installed service. The provider can receive your selected file and related metadata under its own policies. Ace ScanPDF does not store a Google account login or automatically synchronize your documents.
4. Permissions and access
- Camera: used for the optional in-app camera controls. The standard Google scanner uses the camera access managed by Google Play services.
- Selected files and folders: Android's file picker grants access to the documents or folders you choose. A selected folder and its supported subfolders may be read when you request a bulk search. Some grants are retained so selected files remain accessible; access can be revoked through Android/provider controls or by clearing the app's data.
- Internet: used by Google services for scanner-component downloads, SDK diagnostics and Google Play purchase/restore operations. Sharing and cloud providers may also use their own network connections.
You can deny or revoke camera permission in Android settings. The app does not request your contacts, microphone or location for its document features.
5. Retention and deletion
- Saved library documents remain until you remove them or clear the app's data. Removing a library entry does not remove copies already saved to Downloads, Drive or other destinations.
- Discard an unfinished scan to remove its draft. Use Clear OCR cache in Search inside documents to remove the private OCR index. Removing a source file alone may leave its indexed text until the cache is cleared.
- Use Setup signature to remove a saved signature image or imported certificate.
- Clear the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstall it, to remove its local private data, settings, credentials and cached entitlement. This does not cancel or refund a Play purchase; ownership can be restored through the purchasing Google Play account.
- Delete exported/shared copies separately through their storage location or recipient. We cannot remotely delete documents held on your device, a recipient's device or a third-party service.
Google and other providers retain their own service, diagnostic and transaction records according to their policies. If you email support, we receive the email address and information you send and use it to answer your request and maintain necessary support records. You can request deletion of support correspondence using the contact below, subject to any applicable recordkeeping requirements.
6. Your choices and privacy requests
You choose which files to open, scan, search, sign, share or print. No Ace ScanPDF account is created, and there is no developer-hosted account or document repository to delete. For questions, access/correction requests or deletion requests concerning information you have sent to support, email us. We will handle requests according to applicable law and may need to confirm your identity before disclosing support information.
7. Children
Ace ScanPDF is a general-purpose document tool and is not specifically directed to children. We do not knowingly solicit children's personal information through an app account or advertising system. If you believe a child has sent personal information to our support address, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app's features or service providers change. The updated policy will show a new last-updated date. Where required, material changes will also be communicated through the app or its store listing.
9. Use at your own risk and limitation of liability
Use at your own risk. You are responsible for deciding whether Ace ScanPDF is suitable for your intended use and for checking its output before relying on, submitting, sharing or deleting documents. Keep original documents and independent backups. Do not rely on the app as your only record, backup, proof of identity, signature-validation service or source of information for a critical decision.
No additional warranties. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Ace ScanPDF and its features are provided “as is” and “as available”, without additional express or implied warranties, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, uninterrupted availability, fitness for a particular purpose or freedom from errors. This does not exclude warranties or guarantees that the law makes mandatory.
Scanning, cropping, image processing, OCR, search, narration and document conversion may introduce errors, omit content or change appearance. Review all pages, amounts, names and other important details. A search with no results does not establish that a phrase is absent. A visible signature is not a guarantee of identity or legal validity; certificate trust and acceptance depend on the certificate, recipient, applicable law and verification software. Ace ScanPDF does not provide legal, financial, medical or other professional advice.
Exclusion of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the developer and suppliers of Ace ScanPDF will not be liable for losses or damage arising from use of, inability to use, or reliance on the app or its output, including loss or corruption of documents or data, incorrect recognition or narration, missing search results, rejected or disputed signatures, failed exports, loss of profits, business interruption, or indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss. Third-party storage, sharing, speech, printing and payment services are subject to their providers' terms and availability; we do not guarantee their performance.
Rights that cannot be excluded. Nothing in this notice excludes or limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury, or any other liability to the extent it cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Nothing waives mandatory consumer guarantees, privacy and data-protection rights, statutory refund rights, or access to a court or regulator. This notice does not release us from our legal duties concerning personal information. Where an exclusion is prohibited, it applies only to the extent permitted by law; the remaining lawful provisions continue to apply.
